So most players use Blood Magic Gem on their main attack. While Aura and secondary spells used the mana pool. The most common use gem by far in PoE is Reduce Mana. In some build I run as much as 4 of them. That means a weapon with high damage and Life Leech will reward aggressive players with lots of health given back.

Life Leech is a support gem. Skills supported by this gem will leech life back to the player, based on how much damage they deal.

The leech from this gem works with any damage type. Leech does not function with damage over time effects. Regeneration and leech are different sources of life recovery, so they stack with one another, flasks, and life on hit. My solution would be to use the mana leech support at first and if you ever get enough mana leech from physical attack damage on gear you can replace it with a support that increases your damage. Damage over Time cannot Leech, there is no relevant Damage value.
