Should i have my driveway sealed

Many people believe that concrete driveways don't need maintenance, so they may never apply a sealer. This is a good time of year for driveway work. You want to do the project when the weather is dry and when not a lot of leaves or seed materials are falling. Maybe because most homeowners don't think they need to seal their concrete driveways, you may not find concrete sealers at home improvement stores.

The first step in driveway maintenance is the repair of cracks and holes. Materials to fill minor cracks in concrete come in liquids that sell for a few dollars per gallon. One problem with concrete-filler products, though, is that it is almost impossible to match the color of the surrounding driveway. Repairs are going to be visible. Check instructions to see how long the product takes to dry and fully cure. Curing is the chemical process adhesives go through as they reach their full strength.

You may have to wait a day or two between filling cracks and the next step, a thorough cleaning. Trisodium phosphate, sometimes sold in paint and home improvement stores under the name TSP, is a good choice for cleaning oil stains from a driveway. Not at all. During the summer months of May through August we recommend staying off the driveway with vehicles for 48 hours. After September 1st allow 72 hours or more depending on the temperature. Driveway sealer will dry like paint from the top down. It may feel dry on the surface but may still be wet underneath. You can walk on the driveway as soon as it feels dry to the touch, usually just a few hours in sunny areas.

Allow additional time for shady areas at all times. We are extremely careful to work only in the best of weather. Like Save. So, we sealed out counters but did not use enhancer. It didn't seem to do much. Then, when the fabricator came back to do another job, we had him seal it with a DuPont product whose name I can't recall.

That was all done about 4 months ago. Oil and grease spots come off with dish soap, but I'm pretty careful to clean them up as I cook, and I do not know how removable they would be if left for long. I still love the look and feel, although I'm having trouble picking a backsplash that will go well with them.
